Edexcel International GCSE (9-1) Science textbooks |
Commissioning editor

My task on this project was to commission textbooks and eBooks for Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Human Biology and Double Award Science. Working with the in-house team, I prepared the paperwork for internal sign off, including the revenue and sales forecasts. I commissioned the authors, briefed them and answered their queries during their writing process. After handover to editorial, I managed the relationship with the authors, whilst keeping a close eye on proofs, until handover to production. It was very satisfying to work on a project from inception to completion and to feel proud of the finished product.

AQA GCSE Religious Studies textbooks | Development editor

My brief on these Religious Studies textbooks was to do a combined copyedit and development edit of the manuscripts. This included briefing artworks and photos and choosing photos from the low res selection. The series had a distinct style, which it was important to follow. In some places it was necessary to copyfit the text to fit on the relevant pages at typesetting. It is always a challenge to work on sensitive subjects, such as religion, but I approach my work with a keen and fair eye.

Language Tree for Jamaica textbooks | Proofreader

It was a pleasure to proofread several of the Language Tree for Jamaica titles. These textbooks are for primary students in Jamaica improving their literacy and grammar. The brief was to check the proofs against the manuscript, as well as to conduct a proofread and check all features in the proofs. For this project, I marked up the PDFs electronically. As part of my work, I checked all artworks against their brief and compiled a logsheet of any errors and queries.
