Children's books

As a self-published children's book author, I have lots of experience preparing children's books for the market.

Whether you have a finished manuscript that you're ready to take forward and edit, or whether you're not sure what to do with it now, I have a service to help you.

My experience

As a self-published children's author, I understand the challenges of setting out to publish a successful children's book. Although self-publishing has become prolific in certain genres – notably romance and crime – children's books have been left a little behind.

However, it is possible to make a success of it. I make consistent sales from my book, Mystery in the Palace of Westminster, and it often appears in Amazon bestseller lists for its categories.

I can help you do the same. Check out my blog where I will be sharing free advice for children's book authors. If you're to take the plunge and start your editing journey now, find out how I can help you with the services I offer below.

If you have completed your children's book, but you're not sure what to do next, I can discuss your options with you.

You may be uncertain about whether seeking a traditional book deal with a publisher or self-publishing is right for you. In a session lasting up to one hour, for a price of £55, we can talk through what is best for your book and for you.

I can give you pointers about what is involved in each process and next steps for each one, so that once you have decided, you are empowered to move swiftly forward with your plans.

Once you are happy that your manuscript is finished, it's a good idea to have it copyedited. At this stage I will look for:

  • spelling and grammatical errors

  • inconsistencies in voice and point of view

  • any story issues that I think you should be aware of.

My price will vary depending on the length of your project and the work involved. My hourly rates are in line with the CIEP suggested minimum rates. Contact me today for a no obligation quote.
